Projects By Niels Geens

"Electronics is a fine hobby" so says one of the stickers on my laptop and I must agree. Ever since I started studying I've been applying my knowledge to the projects I do in my spare time. A lot of them are experiments and tests of certain techniques, technologies or systems. But every now and again I get the chance to help someone out. On this website I describe some of the larger projects I have done so far. I'll talk about why I did them, why I made certain choices and what I've learned from each project. If you like my stories and want to encourage me to write another one or if you would like to know a bit more about one, feel free to contact me. You can check out the footer for contact information. By the way, you can click on all the images. Some of them are cropped to fit in the text but show more details when enlarged.

Stereo system

For my dorm room

Work in progress

I have always enjoyed listening to music but every stereo system I have ever used seems to lack obvious features. A while back I received a large set of reel-to-reel tapes with a couple of recorders from my late grandfather's brother. It was then I decided I would build my own system to connect this to all my other audio equipment. Having a huge set of requirements this might well be my largest project yet.
